Athletic Club - AZ Alkmaar

Mission accomplished. Ernesto Valverde’s men have already qualified for the next round of the Europa League as Group L winners, but before then they will be seeking revenge against AZ Alkmaar at 21:05 CET.

The Dutch side, who are bottom of the group, won their only game against the Basques back in October in a 2-1 triumph.

Athletic came from behind to win in dramatic style on Matchday Five. With seven minutes remaining, the “Rojiblancos” were losing 2-1 at Augsburg, but top scorer Aritz Aduriz led the comeback with two late goals.

Athletic Club have secured first place in Group L with 12 points from five games, ahead of second-placed Partizan Belgrade on nine. AZ Alkmaar are bottom with three points.

Viktoria Plzeň - Villarreal CF

Villarreal have also done their homework. Marcelino’s team have already assured themselves of a place in the next round, after their 1-0 victory at home to Rapid Vienna on Matchday Five.

They visit Viktoria Plzeň at 19:00 CET with first place in Group E still up for grabs, though.

The team known as the “Yellow Submarine” share the lead in the group with Rapid Vienna. Both sides have 12 points from five games but the Spaniards hold the head-to-head advantage.

Viktoria Plzeň are third and lost 1-0 when they visited the Madrigal back in October, Leo Baptistao scoring the only goal.

A victory will secure Villarreal top spot, while anything less will leave them waiting for the outcome of Rapid Vienna’s game at home to the group’s bottom club Dinamo Minsk. That game also kicks off at 19:00 CET.
