The time has come. Valencia CF will contest this Wednesday the first leg of the qualifying play-off for the group stage of UEFA Champions League against AS Monaco, with the clear aim of getting a good result and take a great step in their hopes.

For this, the "che" team will be swathed by the heat of Mestalla, which will be all decked to lead his team on wings in this great European meeting. In the only official precedent between the two teams, in the first round of the 1980/81 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, Valencia won over the Monaco team on aggregate 5-3.

Nuno Espirito Santo, Valencia´s side manager, pointed that is a "fundamental" match. "There is nothing more important to us that this match. We have made the preseason seeking to reach this round at the right time", he said in the press conference prior to the clash.

About his opponent, which he considers a "great team", Nuno believes that they won’t miss the absence of some injured players as João Moutinho and Layvin Kurzawa: "They have a squad full of alternatives with a lot of quality players. We know that we face a contender of great quality and the team is very aware of what to do. "
