The third of the La Liga World post-season tours has been announced, with Valencia CF taking part in the competition once again, after having played friendlies in Hong Kong, Chile and Peru last year.

This time round, the Mestalla outfit will travel to the USA, where they will be taking on Columbus Crew SC for a friendly in the America side’s Ohio stadium on 27 May at 7:30pm local time (1:30am CEST).

The Major League Soccer team currently sit fourth in the Eastern Conference and boast a trophy cabinet that includes a league title and an MLS Cup. They play their home games in the Mapfre Stadium, which opened its doors in 1999 and holds roughly 20,145 spectators. This will be the first meeting between Columbus Crew and a La Liga side.

The Nuno Espírito Santo-managed side will be taking part in the LFP World Challenge for the second straight year, having played against Hong Kong Rangers and Villarreal CF in May 2014 and then against the Chilean and Peruvian outfits Universidad Católica and Alianza Lima two months later. This will also be the second year running that a La Liga team travels to the USA, following Atlético Madrid’s trip to San Francisco in July 2014 to take on the San José Earthquakes.

The La Liga World fixtures are encompassed within the LFP World Challenge programme that began last year with the aim of promoting the image of Spanish football internationally, spreading the values of the Spanish Brand and Spanish companies, as well as of generating cultural and business opportunities.
