Last weekend, the town of Villarreal played host to the third LaLiga Santander Experience instalment of the season. The new-look Estadio de la Ceramica was the focal point for the grand finale of this edition, which saw Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez steal the show in front of a group of fans and journalists from Vietnam and Ukraine, who – as is always the case with this programme – were quite simply in dreamland.
These special visitors arrived brimming with excitement, but what they experienced surpassed their wildest expectations. A tour of the home of the Yellow Submarine gave them exclusive access to behind-the-scenes parts of the stadium – from the dressing rooms to the dugouts, the media area and the presidential box – and they also got to know the history, food and people of Castellon and the Valencia region through a range of activities.
The guests whetted their appetite ahead of the match together with some of the most passionate local fans, with whom they played games and shared some paella, not to mention plenty of laughter. There to greet them when they eventually made their way to the stadium was none other than Villarreal legend and European champion Marcos Senna – talk about a world-class welcome! The thrills just kept coming as, after that, they had the unforgettable experience of watching the warm-up from pitchside, feasting their eyes on their idols from just metres away, taking in every last detail and soaking up the atmosphere from a vantage point normally reserved for the players.
Kick-off unleashed all the nerves, emotions and tension that come with the territory in the best league on the planet. On countless occasions, the goals and skills of the likes of Messi and Suarez had brought them to their feet as they watched the action on TV back at home in Ukraine and Vietnam, and now they were witnessing them in the flesh. That is what the LaLiga Santander Experience is all about. To cap it all off in fitting fashion, just minutes after settling the contest on the pitch, Messi signed autographs for these adoring fans, ensuring that their dream outing ended with a magical memento.
Thus, it is with their passion for LaLiga Santander burning brighter than ever that the participants have headed back to Ukraine and Vietnam, where they are sure to continue to enjoy the beautiful game alongside their friends and family.
