Enclose by the LFP World Challenge, the Sheraton Hotel in Montevideo hosted the Spain Experience conference focused on contacting the Spanish business abroad with local businesses.
About fifty senior Spanish and Uruguayan executives gathered to mark the historic LaLiga World match between Malaga CF and CA Peñarol. Antonio Sanchez Bustamante, economic and commercial counselor of the Spanish Embassy in Montevideo, explained the purpose of the event sponsored by LaLiga: "Everybody knows LaLiga. What is not known is the program that LaLiga has created. It is LaLiga launched and conquering the world."
The event began with a round table panel formed by Roberto Varela, Ambassador of Spain in Montevideo; José Luis Astiazarán, LaLiga Ambassador; Vicente Casado, executive director of Málaga CF; Alvaro Alonso, manager of CA Peñarol; and Pablo Etcheverry, manager of DirecTV Uruguay. They all agreed to highlight the importance of joining forces to export the Spanish football and businesses worldwide.
Roberto Varela remarked "how important it is that Spain uses this global sport as part of Marca España. It was inevitable for LaLiga to visit this country that loves football and loves so much Spain. Also, Jose Luis Astiazarán wanted to emphasize the work of football to "give back to society what is given to football."
Next, a representation of Malaga CF squad raffled team shirts among attendees and gave way to a brief game of futbolín in which Filipenko and Ricardo Horta took part, joined by José Luis Astiazarán and Roberto Varela. Finally, attendees enjoyed a selection of typical Spanish dishes, among which were cured ham, tortilla, paella and many other products.
