Rayo Vallecano host Valencia CF, a side they beat 1-0 last term but who knocked them out in this season’s Copa del Rey. Paco Jémez’s team have 40 points and are within touching distance of survival, while los blanquinegros are on 68 points.

Team news

Rayo right-back Tito returns to the squad after missing the club’s previous outing through suspension, and Valencia welcome back Pablo Piatti following the Argentine’s absence from recent league fixtures with a muscle injury.

Views from the dugout

In an interview with La Liga TV, Jémez praised the campaign Valencia are enjoying: "They’re having an excellent season; with the arrival of Nuno they have put together a very good team and their figures and results have been really good". The Rayo coach added: "We won’t win against Valencia if we play badly, you can’t win if you offer little; we have to play to our best and, if we do, we’ll have a chance"

Los che boss Nuno expressed his satisfaction with the job his players are doing: "We believe that we do what we do well and that we take firm and decisive steps to stay that way. Our idea is clear: we play every game to win".
