Real Zaragoza and UD Las Palmas offered up a thrilling encounter in the first-leg of the promotion playoff final to Liga BBVA which ended in a 3-1 win for the Aragoneses. The protagonists from the game spoke with the media after the final whistle and they all agreed that it is not all over yet.
Ranko Popović, coach of the Aragones side, didn’t hide his happiness after getting a great result, but he showed caution ahead of the return-leg. "I am not interested in anything other than playing the same way there as we have here", said the Serbian, who also added: "We will go there to win the game, if we go with the same mentality we have had it will make things easier on ourselves. We need to prepare, if we win we will be in the Liga BBVA".
Meanwhile, the coach of the Canarian side, Paco Herrera, didn’t throw in the towel despite the adverse result with which they will start the return-leg. "We need to believe in the comeback. Of course we can comeback", said the former RC Celta coach. Moreover, Herrera also appealed to the spirit of his team at the Estadio de Gran Canaria. "At home we will try to be the same we always are. If we are too desperate then we are dead. We need to be balanced. We need to scored two goals and make sure they don’t score".
One of the protagonists of the meeting, Pedro Sánchez, gave a positive evaluation of the attitude of the home fans during the match. "Against Las Palmas the fans were pushing and that gave us the extra edge to score the goals we needed. The 3-1 is positive but we are realists and we won’t get over-confident", he warned. Finally, the Canarian defender Aythami Artiles added that "we have to use the example of Zaragoza to know that we can comeback"
