Control by Levante
The home team had the better of it in the first half, but their defensive approach meant they were unable to create many chances. In the second half they managed to draw level but Granada stood firm.
Defences on top
In a tactical game, it was the defences who held sway on either side. Granada were able to tip the balance with their pace on the counter-attack in the second half.
Simao levels the scores
Even though the Mozambique midfielder Simao equalised for Levante in the 66th minute with a great header from a free kick, it was Adalberto Peñaranda's contribution that proved decisive.

Peñaranda, man of the match
The Venezuelan 18-year-old was the man of the match in only his fourth Liga BBVA appearance. He opened the scoring after controlling a long pass and dribbling into the area to fire home in the 50th minute.
The second came from outside the box with three minutes remaining, and and he had to be helped to his feet afterwards as he was overcome with emotion.
