I visualize the 2015-16 season as a course in which Spain leverages its strengths to bring to inside a stiff competition for the title, while is projected with all its strength to Europe. Twenty-five percent of its teams, as never before, will participate in the Champions League, and we must add two in Europe League (Athletic Club and Villarreal). Also, they have the reigning champions of both tournaments.
To analyze LaLiga without turning to see the groups of the Champions League and Europa League would be incomplete. Gradually over the weeks will become more accurate, but for now, you can see instantly that of the five teams at the UCL, Sevilla has the toughest group. Rivals: Manchester City reinforced, four times winners Juventus and an always complex German team. The Andalusian team has spirit to fight for the third place in Spain and for the last 16 round in Europe. It will be difficult, but it has a balanced team, high voltage in attack with the arrival of two top scorers as Llorente and Immobile and an off-road as Konoplyanka. Furthermore, it is well run by Unai Emery.
I see the other four Spanish participants in Champions, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Valencia, in the next round, and with that I can define what is for me the 2015-2016 Spanish league, the ultimate European league, reinforced and tightly contested. It will come the new television contract in England, the following season (2016-2017) with its millions and we will see the reshuffling of the continent, but for now, LaLiga rules.
The start of the tournament give us some very nice questions, especially with the favorites. First, if Barcelona can maintain the level of the second half of last season and for how long.
Matchday 2. Barcelona and Real Madrid make their presentations at home, with a very attractive Sevilla vs Atletico, and with the risen and leader Eibar receiving Athletic Club, new champion of the Super Cup. Who would have thought.
