Matchday 36 of the Liga BBVA gets underway and, with just two more after that before the season comes to an end, the teams down at the bottom are making the most of each and every minute remaining to seal survival. With 31 points, SD Eibar sit in a precarious 17th place. The Basque outfit, who have not tasted victory in the last five matchdays, will not be lacking in enthusiasm or desire as they defend home turf. Up against them are an RCD Espanyol side who make the trip in the comfort of tenth, a position of safety that allows them to approach the clash with greater peace of mind than their opponents.
Team news
Eibar coach Gaizka Garitano will have 18 players at his disposal for the match-up. Injured pair Raúl Navas and Jaime Jiménez have not been included in the squad, while Mikel Arruabarrena misses out too as he serves a ban for accumulated yellow cards. The visitors also go into the match with an 18-strong list of players ready to fight for victory, with José Alberto Cañas unavailable due to suspension.
Views from the dugout
Espanyol boss Sergio González spoke of the importance of the clash given its significance for the hosts, who "are having difficulty finding form". And he added: "It's a type of match we approach from a privileged position", an encounter marked by "intensity and anxiety". González's opposite number believes he has the recipe for how his men must go about the game: "Among other things, show more heart, more organisation, more desire, more enthusiasm, more ambition, run harder, press harder and be more intense."
