Full time. McDonald's Virtual LaLiga eSports – the most important national EA SPORTS FIFA 18 tournament, organised by LaLiga eSports in collaboration with the LVP and with the support of McDonald's, Orange, Allianz, El Corte Ingles and Hyundai – reached its conclusion on Thursday with the finals held on both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 at LaLiga's headquarters.
Javier "JRALion" Romero came out on top on the SONY console, winning 6-4 on aggregate, after a tight battle with Andoni "AndoniiPM" Payo, who never lost sight of his opponent in the final. It certainly was not a surprising final match-up, given that both competitors started out as favourites from the outset of the competition. Meanwhile, Cadiz CF eSports player Rubido “LosYuruguas92” Fano was crowned Xbox One champion after thrashing Luis Ángel "Lewiskiller" de David 5-1 on aggregate, in a final clash which, by contrast, nobody could have foreseen at the start of the tournament.

The tournament came to a close with over 8 million minutes viewed over the course of ten programmes, racking up a huge average audience figure of 57,000 viewers per programme through the LVP's Twitch channel. The final, which was broadcast on Facebook Live by LaLiga and on Twitch, had a reach of over 2 million viewers and more than 600,000 views. The final programme had a total view time of over 700,000 minutes and a peak of 5,000 viewers. The Facebook post generated over 25,000 engagements.
The winners on each platform went away with tickets to the EA SPORTS FIFA 18 Global Series Playoffs, which will be held in Amsterdam over the last week of May and the first week of June. These playoffs are the gateway to the 2018 FIFA eWorld Cup, the most prestigious EA SPORTS FIFA competition in the world.
Curtain closes after two months of action
The inaugural McDonald's Virtual LaLiga eSports tournament reached its conclusion two months after kicking off on ArenaGG, the LVP gaming platform. The 16 finalists who came through the qualifying tournaments on each platform faced one another in a series of straight knockout matches at the LVP venue in Barcelona. Only the four best FIFA 18 players nationally, two per platform, made it to the final that was held at LaLiga's headquarters.
LosYoruguas92 wins the mixed-platform final
The grand finale to McDonald's Virtual LaLiga eSports was the mixed-platform match. The champions on each platform faced off in a two-legged affair, one on the PlayStation 4 and the other on Xbox One, with LosYoruguas92 emerging victorious and earning the honorary title of the best FIFA 18 player in Spain.
