Victory over mid-table Valencia, who could still finish in the top half, would make it mission accomplished for the Andalusians this season.

Valencia CF: Aymen Abdennour (injured)

Match Facts:

Malaga (15th, 33 pts):

- After stringing together two wins on the spin for the first time this season, the Andalusians failed to make it a hat-trick of victories last matchday, succumbing 2-0 away to RC Deportivo. That defeat meant that they are still not quite safe, something they will want to put right sooner rather than later to avoid a nervy end to the campaign.

- Malaga boss Michel praised his opposite number ahead of the encounter, as well as stressing that his own side will be striving for maximum points: "We're going to go out there and attack Valencia. I expect the battle to be fought in midfield, because they've got some great players there. Their improvement is certainly no coincidence: they've got a good squad and Voro has managed to get the best out of them."

Valencia (12th, 40 pts):

- Despite their climb up the standings, which has mostly been based on impressive home results, Los Che are keen to improve their form on the road. Voro's men have only won one of their last six matches on their travels (D1 L4), which was a 3-1 victory over another Andalusian outfit, Granada CF, in their last away outing.

- Valencia are brimming with confidence on the back of a four-game unbeaten run and can breathe easy, having put the spectre of relegation to bed. Now their attention has turned to trying to finish as high up as possible in the LaLiga Santander table.
