On Monday, LaLiga took part in the second Premier Summit organised by the Turkish Football Association. Turkey president Recep Tayyip Erdogan was in attendance, as were representatives from Turkish football, international sporting institutions such as LaLiga, the NBA and the International Olympic Committee, television broadcasters and registered trademarks. Erdogan handed a commemorative plaque to Javier Gomez, LaLiga's corporate managing director, in honour of LaLiga's participation in the second Football Summit.

Gomez expounded upon the institution's economic position, as well as the financial control system that has been applied to LaLiga clubs. He also participated in a panel to discuss European football's financial prospects, as well as the importance of leagues and strong teams, alongside Andrea Traverso, UEFA's head of club licensing and financial fair play unit, and Steffen Merkel, the Bundesliga's head of strategy.

Gomez's contribution focused on explaining the financial progress made by LaLiga and its clubs over the last five-year period. He specified the seven factors that LaLiga needed to address over that period: 50% of clubs were in a dire financial situation, institutions incurring enormous losses, growing debt with the Spanish tax authorities, a shortage of professional personnel, LaLiga underexposing its brand, a lack of consistency across clubs to achieve joint growth and the sale of audiovisual rights.

LaLiga's corporate managing director described the measures taken over the last three seasons, with the aim of getting accounts belonging to LaLiga clubs and public limited sports companies [SADs] on sound footing. He also revealed the organisation's target for LaLiga to have the best figures in European football by June 2019, and one of the main strategies in order to achieve that goal was the centralised sale of audiovisual rights, which is an essential financial factor in helping LaLiga maintain its value.
