Bye-bye swimming trunks, flip-flops and the sand, hello football shorts, boots and grass. The summer holidays are over, at least for four LaLiga clubs. Valencia CF, RC Celta, UD Las Palmas and Levante UD kicked off their pre-seasons today.

Celta were the first of the quartet to get down to work. Eduardo Berizzo's troops stepped out on the turf at their A Madroa training ground at around 18:30 CET. The Vigo locals are itching for the new campaign to come around and the first session of the pre-season was open to anyone who wanted to watch the proceedings. The Galicians are officially up and running again.

The curtain has also come down on the Valencia players' vacations. After undergoing medicals in the morning, the squad got the ball rolling in the early evening, with their first session beginning at 19:30.

Though the Las Palmas lads have similarly reported for duty, they have not yet set foot on the pitch. To prepare for the return to action, the squad's fitness levels were gauged through tests at the Hospital Perpetuo Socorro. Quique Setien's charges will take to the turf on Sunday.

The Canary Islanders' 'two-step approach' has also been followed byLevante. The Valencian outfit have their sights firmly on returning to the top flight of Spanish football at the first time of asking and so have headed back to work nice and early. However, the customary medical check-ups were the only thing on the agenda on this first day for Juan Ramon Lopez Muñiz's men, who will start actually training again on Wednesday, when they will do a double session (one at 09:00 and the other at 19:00).
