Héctor Moreno denies Rayo victory

RCD Espanyol and Rayo Vallecano drew 1-1 on matchday 35 in the Liga BBVA. Emiliano Insúa gave Paco Jémez's side the lead, but Héctor Moreno levelled for the hosts towards the end of the match.

Both sides played well in the first half, which witnessed plenty of chances for both teams. Espanyol began the game well and could have taken the lead through Felipe Caicedo, who shot wide from the edge of the area. As the game progressed Rayo began to soak up the pressure and got forward more often, and Emiliano Insúa gave them the lead on 29 minutes, shooting beyond Kiko Casilla after combining with Alberto Bueno.

After the break the game lost a bit of its earlier pace and the teams were more combative, making for a less open match. Only Moreno was able to find a way through, bending the ball past Toño with a cross-shot with 10 minutes remaining. The point leaves both sides fighting for seventh place, which Athletic Club currently occupy.
