Atlético de Madrid started the 2015/16 BBVA League with a hard-fought 1-0 against UD Las Palmas. Antoine Griezzman’s goal in the first half was enough for Diego Simeone´s team, although the canaries stroked the draw in a second half where they put the local team in serious trouble. Review the key points of the match.
Lucky Goal
Equality was the dominant trend in the first quarter hour of play, but Griezmann upset the balance at 16 minutes. The French striker had some luck, as his free kick hit the barrier and goalkeeper Raul Lizoain failed to prevent Atletico's goal.

Control of the game
After Griezzman's goal Atlético monopolized possession and controlled the pace of the game to perfection. In such a moment, Oliver Torres played a leading role in providing the necessary pause and creating good combinations with his teammates.
The crossbar saved the draw
The canary side had a golden chance for an equalizer on the 58th minutes, but the header from David Simon hit the crossbar.

Correa appearance
Angel Correa broke in on the second half and he was a breath of fresh air for Atlético attack. The Argentine player contributed with nerve and creativity, waking up Atletico as it was suffering at times.
Oblak decisive
Las Palmas had another good chance to get a point from the Vicente Calderon Stadium, but Jan Oblak prevented it with an excellent stop. It was in a corner shot, with a ball that got deflected after hitting the back of Fernando Torres, forcing the Slovenian keeper to make an impressive low hand stop.
