Eibar's LaLiga World adventure up and running

SD Eibar touched down in New York on Wednesday for the first stop on their LaLiga World tour of the United States, where Jose Luis Mendilibar's side will feature in two friendlies. The first is on 22 May against the Philadelphia Fury, with the Richard Wacker Stadium as the backdrop. The second fixture is on the 25th at the Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, where they will face one of the biggest names in North American football history, the New York Cosmos.

Aside from the two matches, the players will have the opportunity to visit some of the country's most famous sights and project Eibar's image on the international stage. One of the club captains, Dani Garcia, expressed his happiness that "a small city from the Basque Country is raising its global profile."

After a long flight in which a relaxed atmosphere reigned supreme, while anticipation gradually rose among the excited players, the group took some memorable photos on the iconic Brooklyn Bridge and visited New York's Eusko Etxea (Basque Club). Its president, Iban Ubarretxena, was presented with a shirt signed by the entire first-team squad and was visibly delighted to make his visitors feel so at home. "It's been incredible to see all the players and speak to Mendilibar. We're thrilled," stated Ubarretxena.
