The du Football Champions (duFC) Elite Team have arrived in Spain for an intensive 17-day training camp with LaLiga coaches and to play friendlies against youth teams from Sevilla FC, Granada CF, Cordoba CF and Malaga CF. The duFC Elite Team is made up of some of the organisations leading players and winners of the UAE U16 Schools Cup and UAE Streets Cup. It comprises 32 players representing 16 nationalities from countries such as UAE, France, Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon.

Fahad Al Hassawi, du’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “The du Football Champions platform in partnership with LaLiga was created to enable the UAE’s finest young footballers the opportunity to be discovered and to pursue their dreams through commitment and hard work.  We congratulate the team who has made it to Spain and look forward to their progress in the coming weeks.”

The duFC Spain training programme begins on July 15 with the first match scheduled for July 22 in Sevilla, followed by matches against Granada CF, Cordoba CF and a grand finale against Malaga CF, the top youth team in Spain, on July 30. Coaches from LaLiga have been invited to attend the training sessions and matches to scout for talents from the duFC Elite team, and potentially recruit them.

The journey for the young UAE footballers began with the nationwide duFC UAE Streets and Schools Cup competitions last October. Six months and 1,215 games later, 70 boys were selected to attend an intensive two-day duFC Clinic with four LaLiga coaches, who helped identify those with high potential. The top 20 talents selected by the LaLiga coaches, along with the duFC winning teams, then attended a duFC month-long training camp in May which led to the selection of the Elite Team for Spain.

The du Football Champions, featuring the UAE Schools Cup and Streets Cups, is the home of youth football in the UAE, offering a professional scouting platform to develop the football champions of tomorrow. The UAE’s ultimate youth football championship is open to boys and girls aged 11-17 from across the UAE. They provide the most talented participants a unique chance to train with top clubs in LaLiga, and to pursue a professional football career.
