Córdoba CF and FC Barcelona meet on matchday 35 in the Liga BBVA, a game that could guarantee the Andalusian side’s relegation to the Liga Adelante. José Antonio Romero’s will not go down without a fight, despite the fact that results have not gone their way in recent weeks. Their rivals, Barcelona, are the league leaders and have 64 points more than Córdoba, who they have not lost to since the 1971-72 season. What’s more, the blaugrana need a win to hold on to top spot for another week.
Team news
The Córdoba coach José Antonio Romero has a full squad to choose from with the exception of Iago Bouzón, who is still injured after fracturing his hip in the match against UD Almería. Luis Enrique meanwhile is still without Thomas Vermaelen.
View from the dugouts
The Córdoba coach told a press conference that, in spite of his side’s precarious position, they have “no fear” of Barcelona, but said they do have “respect and consideration” for the Catalans. “The competition has given us another opportunity to show what we’re made of and we should feel a lot stronger,” added José Antonio Romero.
Luis Enrique meanwhile insisted his side would not be in for an easy ride: “I have no doubt that we’re going to face a team that are going to cause us difficulties, so we’ll need to give our very best.”
