BBVA Awards: Jonathan Viera named Liga Adelante player of the month for May

One man was particularly responsible for the fabulous month of May enjoyed by UD Las Palmas: Jonathan Viera (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 1989). The forward has claimed the BBVA Award for Liga Adelante player of the month for May, an accolade chosen by the writers at LFP.es and presented by BBVA, the league's main sponsor.

With five wins and just one defeat in six games, Paco Herrera's men secured a sought-after place in the promotion play-offs thanks to the scoring exploits of one of their assassins in attack. Viera found the net in each of Las Palmas' victories, and his haul of five goals saw him seal his best month of the season.
