LUN 27.04.2015

Following matchday 33 of the Liga BBVA, all of the fights in the league are still very much alive. The battles for the title, for Europe, and for survival all remain very close. FC Barcelona and Real Madrid did not slip up in their difficult trips to the Power8 Stadium and Balaídos, while Levante UD and UD Almería have got a little points cushion in relation to the drop zone. The fight to qualify for next season's European competitions remains very interesting, with Valencia CF, Sevilla FC, Málaga CF and Athletic Club fighting for that objective.

Nobody is giving up ground in the fight for the Liga BBVA
Mistakes are costly at this point of the season. Therefore, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid continue to take surefooted steps in search of the title, and the Catalan side have a two point advantage in the fight. Luis Enrique's men won 0-2 in the Barcelona derby against RCD Espanyol with goals from Neymar and Leo Messi in a game where Barca had a great first half. On the other hand, Real Madrid won 2-4 against RC Celta in Balaídos, in what was a crazy game. El A brace from Javier Hernández 'Chicharito', in addition to goals from Toni Kroos and James Rodríguez allowed Carlo Ancelotti's men to cancel out goals from Manuel Agudo 'Nolito' and Santi Mina and get the three points in a difficult away game.

The Champions League is looking more attractive
The dream of the UEFA Champions League remains alive for three sides, who will engage in a pulsating fight to qualify for next season. Atlético Madrid have an advantage in that battle, and on 72 points, are within sight of that goals. The rojiblancos won 3-0 against Elche CF at the Vicente Calderón with two goals from Antoine Griezmann, who already has a total of 22 in the Liga BBVA and one from Raúl García.

On the other hand, Sevilla FC are gritting their teeth in search of the fourth spot that Valencia CF held before this round of matches. Sevilla won 2-0 at home against Rayo Vallecano with goals from Vicente Iborra and Daniel Carriço, which takes them to 66 points meaning that Valencia cannot afford to slip up.

The fight for seventh spot gets tighter
Málaga CF and Athletic Club continue to fight for seventh place in the Liga BBVA, that could take them to Europe if Bilbao do not manage to win the Copa del Rey against FC Barcelona. Málaga had a one all draw against RC Deportivo at home with a goal from Nourredine Amrabat, that was later cancelled out by Oriol Riera. As such, they are in seventh on 47 points.

Athletic Club are just one point and one place behind. Ernesto Valverde's men won 0-1 against Córdoba CF, who remain at the bottom of the table on 20 points, thanks to an own goal from Deivid. The Basque side got their second consecutive win and clean sheet, after beating Getafe CF 4-0 at home.

Almería and Levante get a breather
Another fight that is looking increasingly epic as the days pass is the survival fight. Two sides have taken an important step forward towards that objective this weekend: Levante UD and UD Almería. Taking advantage of the draw between Málaga CF and RC Deportivo, Levante have a three point advantage over the side from Corunna who are in the drop zone. Levante's 0-1 win at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez against Getafe CF, thanks to a goal from Víctor Casadesús, has given them this little cushion.

Almería have also got themselves a little distance from the drop zone. The Andalusian side won 2-0 at home against SD Eibar thanks to goals from Thievy Bifouma and Verza. The win allows them to take a two point advantage over Deportivo and causes problems for Eibar who are on 31 points, the same number as Sergi Barjuán's men.
