Athletic completes LaLiga success in Europe

The UEFA Europa League is a fact for Athletic Club. The 'rojiblancos' fought until the end to put their name to one of the places of the group stage of the tournament and they did it with a scent of comeback after the 1-0 in San Mamés conquered in the second leg clash against MŠK Zilina.

Although the way here has not been easy, Ernesto Valverde's men exceeded the last hurdle, which was to overcome a play-off that they had 3-2 against, and have achieved the target that had been pining since the end of last year. Now there are seven teams representing LaLiga in continental competitions.

Athletic showed again renewed strength and was confident in one of the most important commitments of this start of the season and, with its football and its style, controlled the match against a confident and gentle rival.  Gorka Elustondo put the foundation stone of the European dream with a shot from the edge of the area, and although Markel Susaeta could sentence with a chance in front of an empty net, the lead (1-0) was enough for  the start of the party.
