Rubi’s men’s defensive strategy was on point against Ahtletic Club, who were struggling to create attacking plays, until Beñat started taking control of the ball in the midfield and they conceded from a free kick.
Wing crosses
The best attacking skills for the Basque team have always been crossing the ball from the wings, free kicks and corner kicks. The away side have aerial experts such as Aduriz, Raul Garcia, Laporte and Etxeita, and an outstanding crosser like Beñat.
San Jose
The Basque player was the man in charge of opening the score from a corner kick. Susaeta’s cross was headed into the back of the net with great skill by midfielder San Jose, sealing the 1-0 and making it easier for Valverde’s men during the rest of the game.
Iñaki Williams
This season he has been brilliant. His speed and confidence, at the age of 21, made him shine once again against Levante UD. The striker finished an excellent play by Aduriz, scoring his fifth goal of the season and securing the final 2-0.
