Matchday 34 in the Liga Adelante had huge ramifications in the league table. After UD Las Palmas’slipped up, R. Sporting took advantage to return to the automatic promotion places, while SD Ponferradina move into the play-off positions after R. Zaragoza lost to Betis at the Benito Villamarín. At the other end of the table R. Racing C. move out of the relegation zone, dropping At. Osasuna in it.

Home advantage proves key

There were eight home wins and three draws on matchday 34 in the Liga Adelante, with not one away team picking up the three points, while only three visiting sides managed to find the net. Manuel Jesús Vázquez 'Chuli', for CD Leganés, Sergio Araujo, for UD Las Palmas, and Antonio Domínguez (RC Recreativo) were the scorers of said goals.

However, none of the teams that scored away from home managed to pick up a single point, with the three matches that ended in draws, AD Alcorcón-RCD MallorcaR. Valladolid CF-CE Sabadell and CD Tenerife-UE Llagostera, all ending goalless.

Back to winning ways

After failing to find a win in four consecutive matchesR. Sporting and CD Mirandés found victories this weekend. The Asturians beat D. Alaves 1-0 to break a run of four straight defeats to move into second place in the table. Gijón were allowed to move into second spot due to Mirandés’win over UD Las Palmas. The rojillos, who had also gone four matches without a win, beat the Canary Islanders 2-1 thanks to Pedro Martíns double.

Ponferradina step into the play-offs

SD Ponferradina continue to dream of competing in the promotion play-offs and they are getting closer to achieving that objective each week. They beat  At. Osasuna 1-0 thanks to Acorán Barrera’s goal to move up to sixth place, the final play-off position. In contrast, this defeat sends the Navarrans into the relegation zone.

The blanquiazules move into the play-offs as a result of Liga Adelante leaders Real Betis’emphatic 4-0 home win over R. Zaragoza.

Racing given timely boost

R. Racing C. made the most of an unfortunate week for the other teams near the bottom of the table. The Cantabrians were the only struggling team to pick up the three points, thanks to a 1-0 victory over CD Lugo. This win sees the Santander side move away from the relegation zone, two points above CE Sabell and At. Osasuna, who occupy the final two places in the drop zone.

Sabadell did manage to pick up a point from their match with R. Valladolid CF at the JoséZorrilla, but  RC Recreativo and  FC Barcelona B lost on their trips to Albacete B. and CD Numancia respectively, and still occupy the final two places in the table.
